Room 5 Nature Walk

Autumn Nature Walk

Over the last few weeks, we started to learn about autumn. We went on a nature walk around the school to look for some autumn leaves and fruit. We had a very exciting walk and the children found a lot of interesting items on their walk...........

We found lots of brown leaves.............we didn't find any acorns or conkers. Maybe the squirrels have them hidden already for the long winter.  We were very lucky to find some blackberries hidden behind some trees.

We found some very interesting plants and flowers in our sensory garden. There was even a scarecrow protecting the plants!!

The children enjoyed touching the different textures in the 'Touch' garden.

We even spotted some fairy doors and little notes around the gardens!!!

We listened carefully  so we could hear different sounds at the 'Hearing' garden.......we could hear birds singing, the dripping of water, cars driving and children chatting........

We found some every exciting fruit and vegetables in the 'Taste Garden', the children were all excited ( including myself!) to see pumpkins growing, strawberries, potatoes and onions. I was told, we will have to make some 'pumpkin pie'!!!

We finished off the week painting lovely autumn trees and making  'Harry the Hedgehogs'

The boys and girls have also enjoyed using concrete materials to make various sets of five .

We are now in Senior Infants and are delighted as we are very big girls and boys. We are allowed to use the computer room weekly this year!!  There was great excitement going all the way upstairs to the computer room and they couldn't believe they each had their own computer to work on.

We are busy counting items and matching them to the correct number.

'With heart and helping hand a child can accomplish everything'

We all decorated our own hand as we are all unique and we all help each other as we are all friends.
